LA FUNZIONALIZZAZIONE DI POLIMERI BIOCOMPATIBILI E BIODEGRADABILI CON FARMACI PER DRUG DELIVERY SYSTEMS
BIOCOMPATIBLE AND BIODEGRADABLE POLYMER-DRUG CONJUGATES FOR DRUG DELIVERY SYSTEMS
Drug Delivery Systems (DDS) have the function of regulating the bioavailability of active principles in adequate time and quantity. Among DDS, those based on nanoparticles made of biodegradable and biocompatible polymers are emerging as the most effective. While, usually, in such systems the drug is physically encapsulated in the polymeric matrix, we undertook the task of chemically bonding the drug to the polymer.
Drug-polymer conjugates have been obtained with different drug content. The drug-functionalized polymers have been used to form nanoparticles, and the drug release kinetics investigated and compared to those of nanoparticles in which the drug is physically encapsulated.
At the moment, information and results related to this activity cannot be disclosed for the potential patentability.
